The People's Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Holds Welcoming Ceremony and Promotion Conference for Delegation of Consular Corps and Business Communities in Hong Kong

On October 11, Commissioner Cui Jianchun led the delegation comprising consular corps and business communities in Hong Kong, along with representatives from the HKSAR government and media, to Urumqi. Erkin Tuniyazi, Chairman of the People's Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, met with and welcomed the delegation. He expressed the hope that the delegation would gain a full appreciation of Xinjiang's charm during the visit.

The Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region government also held a special promotion conference for the delegation. Chen Weijun, Executive Vice Chairman of the regional government, stated in his address that Xinjiang is experiencing its best period of development in its history. He expressed Xinjiang’s willingness to engage in dialogue and exchanges with Hong Kong across more areas, share new opportunities, and jointly write a new chapter of cooperation. Commissioner Cui Jianchun noted that Consular Corps and business communities in Hong Kong are important stakeholders in Hong Kong's prosperity. He added that the delegation’s visit to Xinjiang was timely and would help promote a brighter future of shared development between the "Moon over Tianshan" and the "Pearl of the Orient."

Officials from relevant departments of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region government shared Xinjiang's achievements in developing the core area of the Belt and Road Initiative, the Pilot Free Trade Zone, and the cultural tourism industry. They also introduced the region’s investment and business environment, ethnic groups and religious affairs. The officials welcomed other countries to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Xinjiang.

Hong Kong SAR Government Under Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Mr. CHAN Pak Li, Consul General of Kuwait Mr. Naser S ALGHANIM, Chairman of the Swiss Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong Mr. Benjamin Kristoffer SIGG, and Group Public Affairs Director of John Swire & Sons (HK) Limited Mr. TONG Wai Pong James spoke highly of Xinjiang's significant geographical advantages and enormous potential for economic growth and expressed their hope for expanding exchanges and cooperation with Xinjiang.

The delegation also visited the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Museum and an Islamic Institute.
