On August 19, Commissioner Cui Jianchun welcomed the Harvard University undergraduates from the U.S., who were visiting Hong Kong, to the Commissioner’s Office of China’s Foreign Ministry in the Hong Kong SAR.

Commissioner Cui said that the future of China-U.S. relationship lies in the youth, and youth exchanges inject continuous momentum into the development of China-US relations. The Commissioner’s Office will actively implement the important initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping to "invite 50,000 young Americans to China on exchange and study programs in the next five years" and harness the role of Hong Kong as an international cultural exchange platform to promote mutual understanding and friendship between the youth of the two countries. Commissioner Cui expressed his hope that the students could learn more about China, take practical actions to be the new-generation ambassadors of China-U.S. friendship, and make greater contributions to the friendship between the two peoples. Commissioner Cui also answered the students’ questions on the development of China, the unique advantages of "one country, two systems" policy and China-U.S. relationship.

Organized by the Hong Kong China-United States Exchange Foundation, the Harvard University undergraduates group is visiting Hong Kong, Ningxia and Beijing from August 17 to 26.
