On September 24, Commissioner Cui Jianchun met with Mr. Paul McSheaffrey, the new Chairman of the British Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong.

Commissioner Cui congratulated Mr. Paul McSheaffrey on his new position, appreciated the British Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong for its constructive role in promoting the prosperity and development of Hong Kong, expected the Chamber to contribute more to the China-UK relationship and the cooperation between Hong Kong and the UK. Commissioner Cui briefed Mr. Paul McSheaffrey on China's policies and measures for promoting high-quality development and high-standard opening-up during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, and encouraged the Chamber to seize the development opportunities presented by China, including those in the Hong Kong SAR, so as to better achieve win-win cooperation.

Mr. Paul McSheaffrey said that the British Chamber of Commerce cherishes the unique advantages of Hong Kong, remains optimistic about China's future development prospects, and stands ready to support its member enterprises in growing in the Hong Kong SAR and investing in China, so as to futher facilitate practical economic and trade cooperation between the UK and China, including the Hong Kong SAR.
