On July 18, 2024, Commissioner Cui Jianchun received a farewell courtesy call from the Head of the European Union Office to Hong Kong Amb. Thomas Gnocchi.

Commissioner Cui appreciated Amb. Gnocchi for his active role in promoting communication and cooperation between Hong Kong and the EU during his tenure, and expressed the hope that Amb. Gnocchi would continue making contributions to China-EU relations on his new post. Amb. Gnocchi said that he loved and would miss Hong Kong, and that the EU recognizes the important status of Hong Kong and would like to see it more stable and prosperous.
