Commissioner’s Office: US interference in Hong Kong affairs and China's internal affairs is doomed to fail

In response to the US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the State Department's announcement of "sanctions" on six Chinese Central Government and the HKSAR officials, as well as the US State Department's release of the so-called "2025 Hong Kong Policy Act Report", the spokesperson of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong has expressed strong condemnation and resolute opposition.

The spokesperson said that the US side imposed unreasonable "sanctions" on Chinese officials and issued a shoddily made and lie-filled so-called "report" to smear One Country, Two Systems and denigrate the rule of law, democracy, freedom, and human rights in Hong Kong. This is a gross interference in Hong Kong affairs and China's domestic affairs, and a blatant trampling on the principles of international law and the basic norms of international relations. It once again exposed the barbarity of US hegemony.

The spokesperson said that the Central government has always fully, faithfully, and resolutely implemented the policy of One Country, Two Systems, under which the people of Hong Kong administer Hong Kong with a high degree of autonomy. The formulation and implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Law and Safeguarding National Security Ordinance, as well as the amendment and improvement of the Hong Kong electoral system, have blocked the legal loopholes in the HKSAR's maintenance of national security and built a solid barrier to safeguard national security. The SAR police took action against overseas anti-China forces of Hong Kong in accordance with the law, and the SAR judicial organs independently and impartially tried national security cases in accordance with the law. This is in full compliance with international law and international practices. It is a just and necessary move to safeguard national security and Hong Kong's prosperity and stability. No external forces should make irresponsible remarks.

The spokesperson stressed that Hong Kong has now entered a new stage featuring good governance and prosperity. The rights and freedoms enjoyed by residents in accordance with the law are more guaranteed, the rule of law is more sound, the business environment is more perfect, and the development momentum is stronger, showing a bright future. The survey report released by the American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong in January this year showed that foreign companies in Hong Kong have more confidence in Hong Kong's business environment and rule of law.

The spokesperson pointed out that the so-called "sanctions" by the US have once again exposed its sinister intentions to undermine Hong Kong's prosperity and stability and curb China's development. China will take strong measures to resolutely counter the despicable actions of the US! We once again warn the US side that Hong Kong is China's Hong Kong, and Hong Kong affairs are purely China's domestic affairs. Any external interference is doomed to fail! We urge the US to abide by the principles of international law and basic norms of international relations and stop interfering in the affairs of Hong Kong and China's domestic affairs in any way.
