Welcome to visit the website of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region!
Since Hong Kong’s return to the motherland, the practice of “one country, two systems” in Hong Kong has been a globally recognized success under the full support of the country and the joint efforts of the SAR Government and all social sectors in Hong Kong. At present, with the institutional framework for maintaining security and stability in place, the “Pearl of the Orient” is marching steadily towards greater prosperity and more effective governance with brighter prospect.
The Commissioner’s Office was established in accordance with Article 13 of the Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China. We firmly safeguard national sovereignty, security and development interests, and resolutely guard against external interference in Hong Kong affairs and damage of Hong Kong’s stability. We give full play to our diplomatic expertise to build bridges for international exchanges and cooperation of the SAR and contribute to Hong Kong’s development. We do our best to provide consular protection and assistance to Hong Kong compatriots, and protect the legitimate rights and interests of Hong Kong people overseas. We communicate with all social sectors in Hong Kong with our door wide open, and hold activities such as the “Hong Kong Cup Diplomatic Knowledge Contest” and “Bringing Diplomatic Knowledge into Classrooms” to help Hong Kong compatriots understand more and participate more in diplomacy.
I hope our website could be a window for you to learn more about our major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics and Hong Kong-related diplomacy.
