In response to the unwarranted slander by individual politicians and institutions from the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia and other countries against the lawful law enforcement operations of the Hong Kong Police Force in issuing wanted notices for anti-China troublemakers who disrupt Hong Kong, as well as their deliberate smearing of the Hong Kong National Security Law and blatant interference in Hong Kong affairs and China’s internal affairs, a spokesperson for the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) expressed strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition.
The spokesperson stated that the 19 anti-China troublemakers disrupting Hong Kong, including Yuan Gongyi, who were listed as wanted this time, initiated illegal "Hong Kong Parliament" election activities with the aim of subverting state power. Their malicious acts have seriously violated the Hong Kong National Security Law, severely challenged the bottom line of the "One Country, Two Systems" principle, and gravely endangered national sovereignty, security and development interests. The Hong Kong Police Force’s lawful issuance of wanted notices for these anti-China troublemakers disrupting Hong Kong is a just act to uphold the rule of law in Hong Kong, a necessary measure to safeguard national sovereignty and security, and a legitimate step to ensure Hong Kong’s long-term stability. It is in line with international law and common international practices. The Office of the Commissioner firmly supports the HKSAR Government in performing its duties in accordance with the law and firmly backs the Hong Kong Police Force in taking law enforcement actions against anti-China troublemakers disrupting Hong Kong.
The spokesperson pointed out that the implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Law has provided a solid guarantee for Hong Kong’s long-term stability and the steady advancement of "One Country, Two Systems". Individual politicians from the US, UK and other countries turn a blind eye to their own countries’ sordid records on human rights and the rule of law, as well as the facts that Hong Kong’s rule of law is constantly improving, social order is increasingly stable, and economic development continues to move forward. They wantonly interfere in Hong Kong affairs and China’s internal affairs, and openly stand up for anti-China troublemakers disrupting Hong Kong, fully exposing their hypocritical double standards and malicious intention of "using Hong Kong to contain China". Their despicable schemes are utterly disgraceful.
The spokesperson emphasized that no amount of noise smearing Hong Kong can shake the firm progress of "One Country, Two Systems" on a steady course, and no external interference can stop the historical trend of Hong Kong moving from stability to prosperity. We urge individual politicians and institutions to face reality, uphold an objective and impartial stance, earnestly respect the rule of law in the HKSAR, and immediately stop interfering in Hong Kong affairs and China’s internal affairs.
