On February 11 and 12, the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong summoned representatives of several Consulates General, including the United Kingdom, the United State, Australia and the EU Office in Hong Kong.
The Commissioner’s Office lodged solemn representations against the negative remarks made by the officials and politicians of these countries and organizations regarding the sentencing in the Lai Chee-ying case, expressed strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition, and urged those countries, organizations and politicians to respect China's sovereignty and the rule of law in Hong Kong, cease making irresponsible remarks about the trial of national security cases in Hong Kong, and refrain from interfering in any form in Hong Kong affairs and China's internal affairs.
