On December 17 and 18, the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong summoned representatives of several Consulate Generals, including the United States and the United Kingdom, among others, as well as representative of relevant organization based in Hong Kong.
The Office lodged solemn representations against the interfering remarks made by the officials and politicians from these countries and organization regarding the lawful conviction in the Jimmy Lai case, expressed strong concern and firm opposition, and urged those countries, organization and politicians to abide by international law and the basic norms of international relations, respect China's sovereignty and the rule of law in Hong Kong, and refrain from interfering in Hong Kong affairs and China's internal affairs in any form.
