Commissioner’s Office held Launching Ceremony of the Tour to the Greater Bay Area for Foreign Consular Corps and Business Community in Hong Kong

On June 3, the launching ceremony of the “Re-visit to the Greater Bay Area, Embrace New Opportunities” tour for foreign consular corps and the business community in Hong Kong to visit the mainland cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area was held at the Commissioner's Office of China’s Foreign Ministry in the Hong Kong SAR. Commissioner Cui Jianchun headed the delegation and delivered a speech at the launching ceremony. About 90 members of the delegation attended the ceremony, including foreign consuls general in Hong Kong or their representatives, heads of foreign chambers of commerce in Hong Kong, senior executives of multinational corporations and financial institutions, officials of the HKSAR Government and media reporters.

 

Commissioner Cui said that the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is a major national strategy planned, deployed and promoted by President Xi Jinping. In recent years, the Greater Bay Area has seen continuous achievements in the areas of economy and trade and science and technology innovation, and the convergence of rules and mechanisms has been pushed forward into a new level. The Greater Bay Area is making great step forward towards the goal of becoming a first-class international Bay Area and a world-class city cluster. Hong Kong is a participant, a contributor and a beneficiary of the development of the Greater Bay Area. With its many unique advantages, Hong Kong has provided strong support for accelerating the construction of the Greater Bay Area, and the vast hinterland of the Greater Bay Area has also provided solid support for Hong Kong's economic development. The Commissioner's Office is ready to continue to play its unique role to support foreign communities in Hong Kong in exploring business opportunities in the Greater Bay Area and sharing the dividends of China's development. Through this tour, members of the delegation could experience the openness and innovative vitality of the Greater Bay Area, and expand your investment and cooperation with the Greater Bay Area to share the development opportunities.



The Consul General of South Africa in Hong Kong, Mr. Mojalefa Mogono, delivered a speech as the representative of the delegation. He expressed his honor and willingness to participate in the activities of this tour to the Greater Bay Area, and said that he looked forward to this dynamic journey of discovery to expand new opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation.



After the ceremony, Commissioner Cui will lead the delegation to the three mainland cities in the Greater Bay Area, namely Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Zhuhai from June 3 to 6, and carry out a series of observe and study activities.
